Exciting news! Keynote Speakers Confirmed – click here for more info

Welcome

It is my great pleasure, as the Chairman of the Organising Committee, to announce that this year’s
annual congress will be held from Saturday, the 16th October to Wednesday, the 20th October 2010

The meeting is to be held at Maropeng, a new conference venue in the Cradle of Humankind, approximately an hour by car from both Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The Cradle is a World Heritage site containing the Sterkfontein Caves which have yielded some of the most important discoveries relating to the Evolution of Man, and where palaeontological research is ongoing.  The conference venue, Maropeng, highlights the significance of Africa in Man’s Evolution both, by its proximity to the caves and in the form of an interactive science museum chronicling man’s evolution and development.

This year’s congress will be hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand and the topics to be presented include basic scientific research as well as reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

There is a wide array of accommodation to choose from in the area and for your convenience we have attached a list of these establishments together with their contact details.  We have also provided a brief summary on each hotel / guest house and their proximity to Maropeng.

Social activities will include a welcoming cocktail party, a ‘South African’ theme evening including a braai and star-gazing, a gala dinner and a golf afternoon.  For the non-golfers there will be a guided tour of the Sterkfontein Caves.  Daily game drives and hot air balloon rides over the Magaliesberg Mountains will also be available.

As Chairman of the Organising Committee, I cordially invite you to attend our congress and feel sure that the four days we have set aside for our congress will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to participate in the various scientific sessions, to network amongst old & new colleagues and to enjoy the social programme that has been planned.

We look forward to having you at our 2010 conference.

Yours sincerely,
